Communication and Engagement:

Review of the ACSEF vision for 2015

Achieved.

Delivery of Economic Summit and creation of an Economic Manifesto

Achieved. 

Development and delivery of the ACSEF website

Website delivered.

Continue and improve engagement with key stakeholders and communities of interest

Achieved and target exceeded. 1,200 companies engaged to date. Regular contact with communities of interest.

 
Delivery of Key Projects:

Delivery of the 2007/2008 Operational Plan

Plan delivered in full.

Delivery of Next Generation Projects

Original Next Generation concepts now adopted in Action Plan e.g. Energetica,Transport Centre of Excellence, Business Beacons. 

Develop a consistent approach to developing and measuring targets and outputs, including an overall macro-economic target(s).

Target of 2.5% Gross Value Added (GVA) growth rate agreed. Measurement and outcomes for all actions agreed.

 
Key Influencing of Major Policy Development:

Work with key partners to attract Energy Technology Institute presence to Aberdeen.

Scottish Government did not support Aberdeen application.

Inform the Economic Development priorities of the Aberdeen City and Shire Structure Plan.

ACSEF Action Plan aims and objectives included in draft Structure Plan.

7 priorities have been agreed and are being developed in partnership with a wide cross section of the business community and other communities of interest and are all action orientated as follows:-

 

  1. Develop a fully integrated transport network.

  2. Maximise our intellectual capital.

  3. Anchor the oil and gas industry.

  4. Deliver city centre redevelopment.

  5. Attract and develop skilled people.

  6. Improve the efficiency of planning decision making.

  7. Aberdeen City and Shire as a location of choice for company headquarters.

 

Main Successes

 

  • Improved working relationship with The Aberdeen City Alliance and Aberdeen Civic Forum.

  • Engagement with 1200 businesses.

  • Sponsorship secured from the private sector.

  • Endorsement from the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth of the proactive role of ACSEF.

  • Positive local and national media coverage.
