Locality Planning

The Remit:

To be responsible, on behalf of The Aberdeen City Alliance, for the implementation and development of Neighbourhood Planning;

and our vision that:

"The needs of local communities will be addressed by planning at a local level ensuring that citizens are involved and supported as full partners in the planning process."
(aberdeenfutures a social, economic and environmental design for our City. Published Nov 2001.)

Having achieved our initial target of a Neighbourhood Community Action Plan (NCAP) for all 37 neighbourhoods by 2006, we need to improve the process and ensure effective implementation of the plans.

Objectives

1. The implementation of the Framework for Neighbourhood Planning & Service Delivery for all neighbourhoods from 2007.

2. Monitor quality in terms of;

  • Applying the annual planning cycle (with the first complete cycle that leads to fully resourced plans for 2009-2010).
  • Delivering actions in each annual NCAP.
  • Ongoing dialogue and consultation with communities.
  • Partnership and collaborative working (including Tasking & Coordinating Groups).
  • Effective governance arrangements (including Aberdeen City Council Area Committees).
