Land Use - Progress Report 2007/08

Land Use

Progress

The Land Use Forum has continued to ensure that relevant stakeholders are informed about the development of land use plans and policies.

This has been achieved by holding workshops/events based on topical themes (e.g. Core Paths Plan, the draft Structure Plan), to inform members of how they can influence the direction that these strategies should take.

Key Partnerships and Strategies

The Forum has strong links with other Challenge Forums (e.g. the Homes Forum and the Environment Forum). We regularly hold partnership events whereby cross-forum topics can be debated and members can maintain an awareness of topical issues that contribute towards the aims and objectives of the Land Use Forum. Examples include affordable housing, carbon neutrality etc.

There are no formal reporting relationships between the Challenge Forums. Correspondence is channelled through the facilitators of the respective Forums.

Forum workshops contribute to the knowledge exchange and transfer aims of member organisations, or stakeholders (e.g. Aberdeen City Council). The workshop on housing regeneration in Aberdeen contributed to the dissemination strategy of the Development Planning, and Masterplanning groups in Aberdeen City Council.

Main Sucesses

  • The main success of the Land Use Forum has been to ensure that stakeholders and members of the general public are regularly consulted in topical Land Use matters.
  • Ensuring that a wide range of views and interests are represented in the development of Land Use plans and policies.
  • Bringing together a wide range of stakeholders to develop proposals for submission to the Community Planning Conference, held in December 2007.
