Forum's Strategic Priorities, Objectives and Targets for 2008/09

The CHP Committee's strategic priorities are detailed in the CHP Delivery Plan. The CHP Delivery Plan is under development and will be discussed at future CHP committee meetings. Priorities will reflect the Single Outcome Agreement.

Delivery of Targets

One of the priorities identified for 2007/08 was to develop a comprehensive workplan for the CHP, which has been renamed as the 'Delivery Plan'.

This is being developed and will form the basis of performance monitoring for the CHP Committee. The other three priorities from 2007/08 form part of wider strategies and action plans, including the NHSG Change and Innovation programme which focuses on the whole system patient focused service redesign in primary and secondary care.

Barriers include:

  • Need for greater clarity regarding the role of members of the CHP Committee in terms of adopting a city wide perspective and taking ownership of decisions.
  • Difficulties in ensuring partners are fully engaged and take ownership for delivery of the CHP Committee objectives, e.g. via the JHIP.
  • Possible lack of capacity/resource to take actions forward by some members of the CHP Committee.
  • Size of CHP Committee – can be challenging to ensure effective partnership working in the context of such a large group.
  • Difficulties in engaging with and making strong links to and from other Challenge Forums.
