Progress

The Active Aberdeen Forum is currently considering whether it wishes to adopt Fit for the Future, Aberdeen City Council's draft Sport and Physical Activity Strategy. The objectives in Fit for the Future are closely aligned to the remit of the Active Aberdeen Forum and can most successfully be delivered by sports stakeholders working together.

Active Aberdeen's objectives have been incorporated into Fit for the Future, Aberdeen City Council's draft Sport and Physical Activity Strategy. There is further work required in identifying common ground between the corporate/business plans of partner organisations and those of Active Aberdeen.

 

Main Successes

  • Inclusion of Aberdeen Sports Village, RGU:SPORT, Robert Gordon's College and Denwood Target Shooting Centre in the London 2012 Training Camps Guide.
  • Opening of Aulton Pavilion.
  • Commencement of building of Aberdeen Sports Village.
  • Confirmation of funding from Scottish Government for 50m pool.
