At a training weekend in April of 2008 members of the Community Regeneration Network decided on a name change for their group. The group is now known as Regeneration Matters and their mission statement is real lives, real needs, real people – Working together for Change.
The group first met, as the Community Regeneration Network, on the 23rd November 2006. The purpose of the group is to enhance the work of the individual neighbourhood networks by bringing together community representatives from all of the regeneration neighbourhoods identified in 2006, as neighbourhoods containing the worst 15% of data zones suffering from deprivation namely:
|
Cummings Park |
Seaton |
|
Northfield |
Torry |
|
Middlefield |
Woodside |
|
Tillydrone |
- |
The group meets monthly and has a membership of approx. 35. Members of the group have been involved in a number of activities, some of these are listed below:
As the Fairer Scotland Fund was implemented in April of this year (2008), the Regeneration Matters group will continue to play an important role of community stakeholders within regeneration in their neighbourhoods and develop links with community representatives and agencies within Aberdeen City and nationally.
Regeneration Matters strength is the sharing of ideas, good practice and being able to call in relevant service providers/agencies on issues prevalent in all the regeneration neighbourhoods.
If you would like any further information on the Network group please contact, Anne Knight, Development Officer, on (01224) 523532 or e-mail aknight@aberdeencity.gov.uk.
