The Fairer Scotland Fund came into effect on the 1st April 2008, it is a ring-fenced fund from the Scottish Government, distributed through Community Planning Partnerships (CPPs).
Its purpose is to tackle poverty and deprivation across Scotland. An allocation from the fund has been made to each local authority area to enable Community Planning Partnerships to 'tackle area based and individual poverty and to help more people access and sustain employment opportunities'.
This fund replaced seven previous funding streams (Community Regeneration Fund; Community Voices Fund; Working for Families Fund; Changing Children's Services Fund (Social Inclusion element); Financial Inclusion Fund; Workforce Plus; More Choices, More Chances), thereby reducing bureaucracy and administration and allowing CPPs to focus on tackling poverty and deprivation.
REGENERATION MATTERS
The Regeneration Matters group, along with the Fairer Scotland Fund team, administrates the Community Support Fund. This funding is available to enable community members to attend conferences, visit other regeneration areas, training needs, it also covers childcare costs, travel and conference fees.
Regeneration Matters strength is in the sharing of ideas, good practice and being able to call in relevant service providers/agencies on issues prevalent in all the regeneration neighbourhoods.
If you come from any of the following neighbourhoods and have an interest in joining the Regeneration Matters group or coming along to one of their meetings, please contact Anne Knight on (01224) 323532 or e-mail aknight@aberdeencity.gov.uk

Community Groups or other non-profit making organisations involved in initiatives that promote equal opportunities in Aberdeen may apply for an Equal Opportunities Grant.Small grants (usually between £200-£500) are available for many kinds of projects that benefit the communities of interest – women, minority ethnic communities, Travellers, people with disabilities and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender citizens of Aberdeen.
The Council is particularly keen that the grant budget, carried over from the Women’s Festival, is focused on events/projects for women, who would have benefited previously from the International Women’s Festival held around International Women’s Day on the 8th March.
