Locality Planning Forum

The Neighbourhood Planning challenge is being taken forward by the Locality Planning Challenge Forum.

Purpose

To be responsible, on behalf of TACA, for the implementation and development of Neighbourhood Planning; so that...“The needs of local communities will be addressed by planning at a local level ensuring that citizens are involved and supported as full partners in the planning process.” (aberdeenfutures a social, economic and environmental design for our City. Published Nov 2001)

Having achieved our initial target of a Neighbourhood Community Action Plan for all 37 neighbourhoods by 2006 we need to improve the process and ensure effective implementation of the plans.

Objectives

  1. The implementation of the Framework for Neighbourhood Planning & Service Delivery for all neighbourhoods from 2007.
  2. Monitor quality
  3. Ensure a consistent approach across the city.

Whats New?

Re-design of Neighbourhood Community Planning new

A proposal to re-design the Neighbourhood Community Planning process is presently out for consultation between 7th September and 20th November 2009.

Its purpose is to simplify and make more effective the arrangements for partnership working and community engagement at the local level. Some changes to the process, that has been working since December 2005, are proposed including disbanding the 13 Tasking & Coordinating Groups, clarifying the focus of Neighbourhood Plans and simplifying the annual planning cycle.

All the main stakeholder groups (ie community planning partners; service managers; community representative and city councillors) have been involved in the development process to date and can now respond to the consultation paper which includes a link to a feedback questionnaire.
