Meeting Schedule and Minutes and Participating Partners
The targets set for the challenge in the Community Plan are part of both Forum's wider Action Plans for the City.
The Aberdeen City Environmental Forum was established in April 2000. The 100 plus members of the forum represent a wide range of local organisations and groups including environmental, community and government organisations, educational establishments and businesses (partners can be found on accompanying web pages).
The City Environmental Forum has since become more pro-active aiming to provide information to its members on certain topics, to respond to relevant consultations and to develop position statements on topics of concern. Since its formation, the Forum has participated in a number of events - including a Slow Food Harvest Supper in October 2002, two Sustainable Development Awareness days in the Bon Accord Shopping Centre, the Green Fun Day at the Beach and the GM Nation Debate. The Forum has also been closely involved with an initiative to establish a "Scrapstore" in the City, which will ensure that waste materials, which would otherwise go to landfill, can be recycled for art and craft activities.
The Forum is now part of the Community Planning process in Aberdeen City. As a result of extensive, city-wide community consultation, Community Planning identified 14 themes or challenges. These are now the basis of a community plan and are being taken forward by City Challenge Forums.
Members meet every two to four months and minutes of the meetings are available on this website.
All notices of future meetings and notes accompanying those meetings will also be available on this website.
Note: The Forum is independent of Aberdeen City Council. The Council, on behalf of the members, provide the secretariat to the Forum. It is hoped that the Forum will be able to expand into a body recognised and respected by other organisations in the City.
