Community Engagement Challenge Forum

At its meeting on the 25th May 2006, The Aberdeen City Alliance (TACA) approved a proposal to merge the Getting Involved and Being Informed Forums into a single challenge forum under the title 'Community Engagement'.

This has been done because of the degree of overlap and connectivity between the membership and agenda of the two original forums.

The new forum’s purpose is…

“…to ensure that TACA meets its commitments to developing effective community engagement in the community planning process by building capacity both within communities and our organisations.”

The main concerns of the new forum will be to ensure that community planning is…

  • listening to and taking account of citizens views from all of Aberdeen’s communities
  • informing and supporting citizens and communities so they can participate in the life of the city

At present all TACA members have been invited to nominate their representatives on the Community Engagement Forum and the first meeting is likely to take place in August.

Further detail on the remit and membership and rationale behind the new forum can be found on the proposal presented to TACA.
