Aberdeen's Children and Young People's Strategic Planning Group

Aberdeen Children and Young People's Strategic Planning Group is the Community Planning Challenge Forum for children and young people.

It is the high level, multi-agency planning group which has the responsibility for the strategic planning and monitoring of services for children and young people, on behalf of the Community Planning Partnership.

Membership includes elected members and officers from Aberdeen City Council, NHS Grampian, the Early Years and Childcare Partnership, the Children's Reporter, Careers Scotland, Grampian Police, the Voluntary Sector, the Joint Alcohol and Drugs Action Team and the Youth Justice Strategy Group.

In addition, two members from Aberdeen Youth Council have recently joined the Group along with two members from the Civic Forum.A new Housing representative is currently being identified.

The role of the Strategic Planning Group is to:

  • Champion the interests of children and young people in the City;
  • Lead and drive the action agenda and ensure partnership commitment and ownership;
  • Agree joint outcomes, monitoring, evaluation and information sharing;
  • Oversee the strategic planning and give strategic direction to support resource allocation of services to children and young people at city wide and neighbourhood level.

The Strategic Planning Group will consider actions or plans:

  • Of a joint strategic nature;
  • That require to engage partners;
  • That require a collective approach;
  • Involves new/cross cutting funding;
  • That is the interest of more than one Council Committee.

The Strategic Planning Group meets 4 times per year in the Town House.
